·          Mobile phone DVB-H TV Mini SD Card and module – Program Manager

o        Established relationship with customer and won RFQ for both the card and the logistics

o        Managed all aspects of program from concept to prototype production, including PCBA, plastics tooling development, F/W, S/W, GUI, and ID

o        Team consisted of antennas in Sweden; S/W in Chennai and Bangalore; plastics in China; and architecture, engineering, prototype, manufacturing test, new product introduction, logistics and marketing in the US

o        Built and managed engineering team

ViVoTech Inc., 2003 - 2004

VP, Engineering

Responsible for all aspects of software, embedded, electrical and mechanical industrial design and release to manufacturing for an end-to-end contact-less payment system.  System components include a Java-based server platform, Palm and Symbian-based hand devices, and RF & IR enabled readers that interface to Point–of–Sale (POS) devices.

·          Grew company to $3 M annual revenue

·          Built and led engineering team:

o        Software group consisted of one senior security engineer, one java loyalty/gift card/financial platform engineer, one C++ application engineer, and two handheld application engineers.

o        Embedded F/W group consisted of three engineers coding C and assembly on 8051 for the RFID/IR enabled readers.  RFID transactions were based on the ISO 14443 and ISO 15693 standards.  IR transactions were based on proprietary architecture.

o        Electrical group consisted of three engineers for the RFID/IR enabled readers.  Components included antenna’s for the 13.56 MHz and 134 KHz range, 8051 baseboard, Philips security chip, and IR transceiver.

o        Mechanical industrial design group consisted of two engineers and one technician.

·          Successfully managed a large pilot program with a major telecom carrier of the ViVOplatform and handheld payment instrument loyalty product.

·          Established manufacturing release process and released 11 products in first six months on the job.  Released major product line and started high volume (thousand’s) production in Xiamen, China.

·          Successfully managed certification program with major card issuer and shipped the first 1,000 readers to that issuer for deployment that contributed 25% of Q1 revenue.   Initiated certification programs with two other issuers.

·          Successfully managed design and release to production in China of an OEM product for a major POS manufacturer.  The milestones were met on time and the product contributed 10% of Q1 revenue and for 34% of Q2.

·          Successfully managed design and release to production in China a specialized variation for a major petroleum company for use at their stations.  This was a particularly technically challenging design and resulted in a patent.  The milestones were met on time and the product accounted for 36% of Q2 revenue.  Initiated design for a second major petroleum company.

·          Successfully developed Beta product for Symbian, a major provider of handheld operating systems, initiated pilot program at corporate headquarters.

·          Established processes and procedures that greatly increased both the efficiency of product development as well as greatly improving ability to meet milestones on schedule.

Nexcellence Inc., 1999  - 2003

Founder & CTO

Founded Nexcellence, provider of fully managed hosted IT services.

·          Developed business model, business plan, and VC and customer presentations

Honeywell-Measurex Corporation, Cupertino, California, 1998  - 1999

Engineering Director

Managed a team of 75 people and all aspects of engineering development and release, transition to manufacturing and coordinating Beta and first production shipments of major new product line.  Product included custom process control S/W, physics-based sensors, a large and complex mechanical structure, custom and off-the-shelf electronics.

·          Received $45 million (50 systems) in orders in the four months following introduction, the best ever in the history of the company

·          Beta and manufacturing releases were completed on schedule and in budget under an extremely aggressive time-table (when I asked around before I took the position, many said it couldn’t be done).

Identix Incorporated, Sunnyvale, California,  1994 - 1997

Responsible for product development, sustaining engineering, and OEM sales of existing “core technology” as well as test and phase-in of new technology under development.

·          Initiated and managed program to integrate technology into Oracle database product.

·          Managed pilot with major credit card company
