Sail the Pacific Coast of California and Mexico
aboard the auxiliary ketch Voyager.
Captained charters for a day, week, or longer are available for up to six guests to Santa
Catalina Island, the Channel Islands, California coastal ports, and further south along
the Mexican Riviera. Guests may participate in the operation of the vessel, experience
hands-on sailing, learn the arts of coastal cruising, brush up on navigation skills, or
just lay back and enjoy the sun and sea breeze, as you wish, for as long as you wish.
Plenty of water toys are available for your fun in the sun.
Voyager is a 50 ft. auxiliary, ketch rigged, Gulfstar sailing vessel. She is maintained to the highest standards of comfort and safety, and U.S. Coast Guard documented for international coastwise charter and commercial operation. She is fully equipped for blue water service, and under the command of a U.S. Coast Guard licensed master, experienced and competent in all aspects of vessel operation. Your enjoyment, comfort, and safety are his standing orders.
The below-deck accommodations consist of two, twin or double, staterooms, each with head and shower, separate quarters for the crew, a comfortable main salon with two additional berths, a well equipped galley, and state of the art navigation suite.
Navigation and communications systems include Radar, VHF and HF-SSB marine and amateur radio transmitters, Loran, GPS, SATNAV, weather-fax, and a cellular telephone with fax and data interface to the local telephone system. Sails include a complete suit of working sails, Genoa, and spinnakers. Auxiliary propulsion is a Perkins diesel, with 1200 miles of range, and auxiliary electrical power is provided by a 5kW diesel generator. A hard-bottom dinghy with outboard motor, windsurfer, scuba-dive equipment, and barbecue are stowed on deck.
Full-service charters can include voyage planning, provisioning, meal planning and preparation, and general pampering. Guest-participation charters are a lower cost alternative for more experienced sailors, where passengers share in the routine operation of the vessel, under the supervision of a licensed captain, as well as preparation of meals, housecleaning, and provide their own provisions and ground transportation. Charters combining elements, to provide a range of services, can be structured to meet your needs and desires.
In addition to customized extended voyages, Voyager Yacht Charters is offering two and three day weekend cruises, for one to six passengers wishing to sail from Los Angeles to Catalina Island. These trips depart from Alamitos Bay, near Long Beach, on Friday or Saturday morning and return Sunday afternoon.
You sail 24 nautical miles, southwest, across the San Pedro channel, in about four hours, and visit one or more of the beautiful harbors on the island. Anchoring in a quiet cove, or taking a private mooring at Avalon or Two Harbors, you can enjoy the sights ashore, swim, windsurf, or just relax. You stay overnight and dine aboard, or go ashore to a fine restaurant, returning to Voyager at your leisure. On Sunday afternoon, the trip home is usually a fast, breezy reach across the channel in about three hours, in time to clean-up and return home by early evening.
Voyager Yacht Charters provides a licensed captain, the vessel fully equipped for offshore navigation, all vessel maintenance and necessary repairs, fuel, and port fees. The captain will be happy to provide instruction and training in off-shore cruising techniques, safety, piloting, and coastwise navigation. The captain will be in command of the vessel at all times, and will be responsible for safe operation of the vessel.
