The Boys & Girls Clubs of Silicon Valley nominated Cindy Macy
and her four children as Mercury News Wish Book recipients, however, they
were not selected. The good news is that the Christmas Angels is in
contact with the Wish Book every year and we have picked them up as this
year’s adopted Christmas Family.
Cindy Macy is a single mother with four young girls: Jennifer age 14,
Jessica, 13, Justine 12, and Joanna, age 10. Cindy is a working single
parent who has made a home for her children despite great adversity.
Cindy works full-time at Hope Rehabilitation Services. Her paycheck
doesn’t quite stretch enough to make ends meet and she would like to
buy some special gifts for her girls this Christmas. For example, she
receive 50% discount on used clothing through her work, but she would like to
give at least one new outfit to each of her daughter’s this year.
They also need new school supplies. Cindy would appreciate a gift
certificate to a local grocery store so she can plan a special holiday meal
with all the extras. She would like to make this a special Christmas
for the girls to remember. She has not been getting any child support
for several months now, and because her ex-husband’s disability
payments are about to end, she may not see any support in the near future.
Each of the kids attends the Levin Boys & Girls Clubs in South
San Jose and enjoy a safe and caring place to go after school.
They are involved in every activity and program offered at the Club,
including the health and life skills programs (SMART Girls and SMART Kids),
leadership programs (Keystone & Torch Clubs), the Homework
Center, as well as the sports and
recreation program. The Club provides stability, safety and fun for the girls
during those afternoon hours while their Mom is still at work.
Even
working; it is difficult for Cindy to make ends meet, much less provide for
any extras for her family. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Silicon Valley
is grateful that the Christmas Angels has selected her family as a recipient
of their generosity and is providing her and her family with gift cards to
purchase clothes, school supplies, and toys for the children.
Pastor Ron (my former personal trainer), his wife Tia, and I
delivered the gifts on Christmas Eve.
As usual, we were able to fulfill all of their needs through
everyone’s generous donations.
Also, as usual Pastor Ron led a prayer with the family.
Tree donated again this year by the Christmas Tree Farm on DeAnza
Blvd.
The Mercury News Holiday Wish
Book is here.
